How to get crafty with test tubes!

If you’ve picked up a copy of our latest issue, you will have seen our lovely spread of crafty ideas for New Year’s Eve, and the test tube one was one of our favourites. Quick, easy, but effective, all we did was pick some test tubes up from Plastic Test Tubes (we loved these ones especially because of the cute cork stoppers they came with) and filled them with some colourful confetti to match our party colour scheme. Then, simply cut out and write some small message tags with celebratory phrases for a special added touch, and voila – they look beautiful full as part of your decorations and make it easy to throw your confetti when the clock strikes midnight!

But it’s not only for confetti that these little tubes come in handy for. Use them as mini stocking fillers, and put a mixture of treats inside. We love the idea of filling them with all the ingredients you need for a perfect mocha – coffee beans, cocoa powder and tiny marshmallows! For someone who loves to cook, they’re also a fun way to store spices.

Display presents to your loved ones in test tubes – a single flower looks pretty and rustic, or hang a necklace inside. If you want to get really creative, try painting the test tubes different colours and hanging them together as a chandelier, they look stunning when they catch the light and make a great centrepiece!
